Additional Information

The bright colors such as hot pink are typical of Kurdish weavings. That and the hourglass and vessel motifs all act as protection against the evil eye. Provenance: Sun Bow Trading Co., Charlottesville, Virginia | Private Collection. Saul Barodofsky is the owner of Sun Bow Trading Co. and a retired specialist in Turkish arts and culture. For more than thirty years, his firm supplied rugs to the Mezzanine Gallery Shop at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From 1977 to 2018, Mr. Barodofsky personally selected rugs and related objects for major US collections and co-founded an educational resource focused on collectible weavings.
