Additional Information:Provenance: Collection of Frank Bergan Thompson, Rio Rancho, New Mexico. According to the consignor, her father, Frank Bergen Thompson, operator of the Tse’ Bonito trading post and son of Louis S. Thompson, owner of a large chain of Native American reservation trading posts, knew Helen Hardin from childhood and acquired this painting when she was approximately twelve years old. He purchased the work as an early expression of confidence in her developing artistic voice. Lot is accompanied by a copy of a photograph depicting the provenance holder, Frank Bergan Thompson, in his Tse' Bonita, New Mexico trading post, from the family archive. The painting is signed using Helen Hardin’s Tsa-Sah-Wee-Eh cipher, derived from her name, Little Standing Spruce.
Condition: very good, localized soiling bottom edge, not examined outside of frame (condition of art only)
